[Review] Breaking In - S01E01 - Pilot (slight spoilers)

Remember when Christian Slater was in feature films like "Very bad things"? Now he is back on the small screen starring in "Breaking In". In this new half-hour comedy on FOX he is the cool boss of "Contra Security", a high-tech security firm hired to break into its clients' companies and find loopholes in their security.

After watching the pilot I was pretty confused. Due to the fact that it's only 22 minutes they did not have a lot of time for character exposition and believe me, there are a lot of characters. The cast meshes well, which is essential for an ensemble comedy like Breaking In. Christian Slater as Oz is perfectly cast, Bret Harrison is also great as new-employee Cameron. Alphonso McAuley as Cash, Odette Annable as Melanie and Trevor Moore as Josh Armstrong round things out with ease. The only problem I have is Cash being the token black dude with the stupid comic relief catch phrase. Not that a sitcom needed a comic relief anyway.

Breaking In is a very fast paced show that had a lot of those "blink and you miss it" moments. It seemed a little too crowded for 22 minutes to be honest. The twist having Cameron stealing the wrong car at first was not really necessary although it added to Josh's character so it was ok. All in all I will add Breaking In to my weekly schedule for now - if only for Christian Slater.
