[Review] Camelot - S01E01 & S01E02 - Homecoming & The Sword And The Crown
Camelot is one of these series that you either don't watch at all or absolutely love. If you are into the legend of King Arthur and everything that revolves around the mystical castle of Camelot you are bound to be part of the second group of people.
I saw the pilot and was taken by the setting and the cast. Although the legend of Arthur is a story full of mystery and magic you will see anything magical but some slight hints in the first two installments of this series. The story begins with the poisoning of England’s King Uther by his scheming sorceress of a daughter, Morgan, portrayed by former Bond girl Eva Green. With the old king dead Merlin, played by an intense looking Joseph Fiennes, sets out to the countryside to reclaim the king's son, Arthur, who was send to live among common folk for security reasons.
The cast exposition so far has been good and the story is taking shape (I have yet to see the third episode). I imagine I will enjoy this series. The casting of Jamie Campbell Bower of Twilight fame as King Arthur might turn out to be a good one as he seems to struggle to fill the roll with the royal aura a king needs. As he grows so will his character and I think it might be fun to see that happening in the future.
So far, I think Starz has done a good job to fill its friday slot with yet another historical series. Let's hope it keeps getting even better. I would hate to see Eva Green being the only thing I look forward to seeing in this series.
